Unusual Frankness about Race: Interview with Darrell Harrison Ep. 27

We continue our series on race, ethnicity, and Christianity in America/the West. Today’s episode is an interview with an outstanding man of faith and learning. Darrell Harrison has been there, done that, and got the t-shirt in this life. He grew up poor in the projects of Atlanta, knows what it’s like to navigate life as a minority, but his perspective on so-called “race relations” isn’t what you might expect.

Listen in for a challenging dialogue with a brother who sets his eyes on Christ, and who refuses to claim a victim status in this world.

Darrell points us all to Christ, and the liberating truth of the gospel. Check out his blog here, and spread this episode far and wide.

Reflections on The Benedict Option: No Political Solutions Ep. 22

Adam recently took a long road trip alone, during which he listened to the audiobook version of The Benedict Option. It was an earthquake for our host. In this episode Adam reflects on some of the strengths of the book without going into a detailed book review. Much of what Dreher presents in the book are the things Adam has been circling around in other episodes of this podcast.

The idea here is that there is no political solution for the Western nations. At this point, we have gone past the time when we could have righted the ship of civilization on our own cleverness and ingenuity. What is the Christian’s role in this changing, revolutionary time? Shall we eternally wring our hands at the secular world around us, or is it time to look within? We need to clean house, and by that we mean the churches of broad, historical orthodoxy. Christians must ready for the next 1,000 years through creative, private solutions to our rapidly deteriorating life of worship, work, and family.

You can find Adam on Twitter here, or by contacting him here. The show will be slowing to one episode per week for the foreseeable future, as donations and patrons have not yet come alongside the show in an amount that would sustain the time and effort going into it for more than one show per week.

Adam thanks all of you for your encouraging feedback and interactions, and for those who have generously donated, thank you for getting the show this far. It’s been fun!

I’ve Got a Better Label than “Conservative,” I Think… Ep. 18

I think we can do better than to stick with calling ourselves conservatives. There’s nothing wrong with being conservative, I just think the time has come to shift the language to a different term.

I think there are ways to use terms differently so as to awaken critical questions and thinking. That’s what we need to do, right? Well, come along for a listen with your old pal Adam.

Always looking 500 years into the future as I live gratefully in the present…

A Bold Voice for Life & Sanity in General: Interview with Kimberly Ross Ep. 17

One of the strongest points of light in the Western world today is the pro-life movement in the United States. Kimberly Ross is representative of young Americans who cannot, who will not bow the knee to the culture of death.

Writing at RedState.com and other spots around the web, Kimberly has garnered a strong following of likeminded young conservatives (and her fair share of critics). In this interview we talk transgender issues, military ethics, and a basket of other underlying issues at work in Western culture today.

The Truth about America’s Role in Syria: An Interview with Kevork Almassian Ep. 7

What is America’s role in Syria’s 6-year-old civil war? Who are the moderate rebels that our government is funding? Who has been using poison gas bombs in Syria? Was Trump right to strike the Syrian government with tomahawk missiles earlier this month?

Many evangelical Christians in the United States get their information about our Middle-Eastern involvements solely from main-stream sources–the same main-stream media that we otherwise do not trust to report accurate and honest news within our own nation.

One example of this is Dr. Albert Mohler of The Briefing podcast. On his April 25, 2017 episode, Mohler recited news about Syria from corporate media sources which all support the US government’s agenda in the Middle East. No comment was given to the credibility of the sources, rather, Mohler showed limitless credulity toward the media narrative. This man is an intellectual heavyweight who runs a large, successful seminary, but typical of American evangelical thinking, he gives full, unquestioning credence to the progressivist, globalist media who regularly lies and twists the truth in every other area of reporting.

Can Christians do better than this? Is our government-media complex to be trusted whenever there is an urgent development in the world? This show ought to at least give us pause to consider another possibility.

Kevork Almassian joins Adam for an in-depth interview from the perspective of a Syrian born and raised in Aleppo.

Kevork is a Syrian political journalist based in Germany. He holds a bachelor degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, and is currently learning German to continue his MA in Political Science. He writes op-ed articles for several websites and newspapers, and he recently launched a YouTube channel called Syriana Analysis to give a close-up perspective of what’s happening in Syria. Encroaching Globalism: An Interview with Michael Kinsella Ep. 6

The new world of globalism is closing in on everyone. It’s tentacles are particularly odious to those who wish to live traditional lives. What are we facing in regard to current clashes of culture and worldview? Is there hope to understand and overcome the enemies of the Christian traditions of the Western world?

Michael Kinsella joins me to discuss the various challenges we face on either side of the Atlantic. We talk economics, church life, the survival of the family, and beyond.

Michael teaches ethics in University College Dublin and is Director of Research at Aid to the Church in Need Ireland. You can see his academic profile here -> http://ucd.academia.edu/MichaelKinsella.

The Citizen of New Jerusalem Podcast is Currently Brewing…

presuppositions

Most of my best learning over the past five years has come by trying out all kinds of podcasts. Like many before me, I’ve decided to give it a shot myself. The work to get there is pretty detailed and technical – so it may take me a bit of time to launch, but I’m working hard on it. It’s brewing.

What’ll it Be?

The CoNJP is going to be a man swinging a sword and an axe, aiming for the heart of darkness and the roots of evil in our world. Like you all, I’m watching Western civilization descend into a black hole of moral anarchy, and I’m not going to sit idly by as she goes.

I believe there is a future for the West, and I want to invest in it. 3,000 years of our history is not about to go up in flames because of an army of Social Justice Warriors griping and screaming in the streets. We traditionalists (of all stripes) must realize we are powerful, possessing old, sharp weapons of warfare that bring down devilish strongholds.

So the podcast is going to be the Christian worldview and philosophy, applied to untying the Gordian knots of our day. My Twitter can give you a good snapshot of my brand of reactionary thinking.

I will have guests from differing perspectives, I’ll address relationships, education, military issues, ethics, arts, sports, entertainment, and anything else I get my mind around. Read a couple weeks’ worth of my tweets for more detailed flavoring.
